DAY 30 MONDAY: NOVEMBER 2020

LIVING A HIGHER LIFE!

Let each of you look out not only for his own interests, but also for the interests of others (Philippians 2:4).

Every child of God is expected to live a life of love, forgiveness and humility in life. This kind of life is a higher life; hence, a life from above. You are not expected to live a life of vengeance; hence, tooth for tooth, eye for eye and flesh for flesh in life. This kind of life is a lower life that puts one into bondage in life. In the opening text, the Bible says that let each of you look out not only for his own interests, but also for the interests of others. Of course, every Christian should endeavor to take note of the fact that it is the absolute will of God for him to live a higher life. The life of a higher life is absolutely a life that is indeed above and supreme in life forever.

Living a higher life is to live a life of giving. A Christian is not expected to be selfish but to give and share in love and humility in life. That is why the Bible tells us in Acts 20:35, “I have shown you in every way, by laboring like this, that you must support the weak. And remember the words of the Lord Jesus, that He said, ‘it is more blessed to give than to receive.” Therefore, it is the duty of a Christian to be industrious and creative in his life’s endeavor so that he could be a blessing to his generation in life. As a Christian, God expects you to look out for the interests of your neighbors and those around you in life. The life that gives generously is of course a life that is indeed blessed by God and also positioned for a higher life forever.

Jesus Christ gave us the parable of the sheep and goats in order to demonstrate higher and lower kinds of life in (Matthew 25:31-46). In the parable, the goats were rebuked for living a lower kind of life; while the sheep were handsomely rewarded for living a higher kind of life. That is the reason why the Bible says thus, “Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it for Me” (Matthew 25:40). In fact, whatever a Christian does in life to support the weak and the less privilege in the society, he does it unto the Lord in life. Definitely, he that generously give to the poor and less privilege in the society is indeed lending to the Lord and God must surely reward his labor of love in life forever.

Daily Tip: God expects you as a Christian to live a higher life which is the life of generous giving, hence the life of God from above  forever. Shalom!

Golden Text: And just as you want men to do to you, you also do to them likewise (Matthew 6:31).
