DAY 23 MONDAY: NOVEMBER 2020

YOUR CITIZENSHIP IS IN HEAVEN!

For our citizenship is in heaven, from which we also eagerly wait for the Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ (Philippians 3:20).

A Christian’s citizenship is in heaven because he had been born again in life. When you are born again, you are no longer a citizen of this world but a citizen of Zion, the heavenly Jerusalem in life. In the opening text, the Bible tells us that our citizenship is in heaven, from which we also eagerly wait for the Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ. Of course, every Christian should endeavor to take note of the fact that his citizenship is not in this world but in Zion, the heavenly Jerusalem which is the holy city of God in life. A Christian is from above where Jesus Christ is seated over principalities and powers in life. Hence, a Christian’s citizenship is indeed in heaven where Jesus Christ is seated and exalted above life’s situations and challenges forever.

Whoever that is born again is born into Zion, the holy city of God in life. That is why a Christian should never conform to the standard of this world in life. No wonder the Bible says in Psalm 87:5, “And of Zion it will be said, ‘This one and that one were born in her; and the Most High Himself shall establish her.” Therefore, a Christian was born and at the same time established into Zion, the holy city of God in life. God has established you in Zion, His own city of heavenly Jerusalem in life. Indeed, a Christian’s citizenship is in heaven, the Zion and holy city of God in life. A life that is devoid of Jesus Christ is absolutely destined for eternity in hell forever.

God has lifted you above principalities and powers to sit with Jesus Christ in life. A Christian should be bold and confident like a lion in life (Proverbs 28:1). He is not expected to live in fear no matter the challenges of life. That is the reason why the Bible says in Ephesians 2:6, “And raised us up together, and made us sit together in the heavenly places in Christ Jesus.” In fact, through Jesus Christ a Christian was indeed elevated into the realm of the divinity to reign with God in life. God has given a Christian authority in Christ Jesus in order to exercise dominion in life. Therefore, a life without Jesus Christ is absolutely a life that is of course devoid of authority, powers and eternal supremacy in life forever.

Daily Tip: Every Christian is a citizen of Zion, the heavenly Jerusalem, and the holy city of God in life forever. Shalom!

Golden Text: They are not of the world, just as I am not of the world (John 17:16).
