DAY 17 TUESDAY: NOVEMBER 2020

YOUR AUTHORITY IS IN CHRIST JESUS!

Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you (Luke 10:19).

At creation, man was given authority by God to be exercised over natures and circumstances in life. But when man fell, he lost his authority to Satan in life. He thus became a slave to Satan, his cohorts, and also became subject to circumstances of life. The Bible says in the opening text that behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you. Of course, every Christian should endeavor to take note of the fact that his authority in life is in Christ Jesus. Hence, a Christian has his authority in the Name of Jesus Christ to decree, bind and also loose in life forever.

When Jesus Christ resurrected and He was about to ascend into heaven, He promised His disciples thus, “But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth” (Acts 1:8). Therefore, this clearly shows that a Christian had been given authority in Christ Jesus to become God’s weapon of man’s solution in life.  Without the Holy Spirit, you can never exercise the authority of Jesus Christ in your life and ministry. The authority of God is absolutely endorsed in the Name of Jesus Christ and given to a Christian to fully exercise his authority over the earth in life forever.

The authority of a Christian over Satan, his cohorts and powers of darkness is in Christ Jesus. That is the reason why the Bible says in Philippians 2:10, “That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth.” In fact, at the mention of His Name the authorities in heaven, earth and in the abyss are bound to bow in life. Therefore, the authority of a Christian is firmly tied to the supremacy of the Name of Jesus Christ in life. Indeed, every authority outside the Name of Jesus Christ is absolutely null, void and of no effects in life forever.

Daily Tip: The authority of a Christian is firmly tied to the supremacy of the Name of Jesus Christ; therefore, he is expected to use it judiciously to the glory and praise of God in life forever. Shalom!

Golden Text: Then He called His twelve disciples together and gave them power and authority over all demons, and to cure diseases (Luke 9:1).
