If you are willing and obedient, you shall eat the good of the land (Isaiah 1:19).

Today happens to be the International Food Day; a day set aside by the United Nations Organization to celebrate the essential and importance of food for the existence of mankind in life. The key to abundant life is obedience. Until one learns to obey God, he can never experience and have a taste of abundant life. It is only God that has the power to make one rich without any sorrow attach to it in life. Any blessing outside God is full of sorrow in life. Of course, every Christian should endeavor to take note of the fact that obedience to God’s command is the absolute key to abundant life. A life that is devoid of absolute obedience to God’s Word is indeed a life that is impoverished and enslaved in penury forever.

The Bible gave us a vivid account of what happened in the time of Isaac when there was a great famine in the land of the Philistines in life. Isaac wanted to relocate to Egypt because of the famine, but God asked him to remain and sow in the land. When he decided to obey God, the Bible recorded thus, “Then Isaac sowed in that land, and reaped in the same year a hundredfold; and the Lord blessed him” (Genesis 26:12). Therefore, whenever a Christian learns to obey God’s Word faithfully, he is bound to experience more than a hundredfold reward in life. A life of obedience is of course a life that is full of abundance and fruitfulness forever.

Again, we saw another scenario of what happened in the New Testament when the disciples of Jesus Christ toiled all through the night without fruits of evidence in life. But when Peter obeyed Jesus Christ, the Bible recorded thus, “…cast the net on the right side of the boat, and you will find some.’ So they cast, and now they were not able to draw it in because of the multitude of fish.” In fact, it was indeed the obedience of Peter to the Master, Jesus Christ that brought forth great and unprecedented harvests into reality in life. There is indeed a great reward in obedience to God’s command in life. Without obedience to God’s commandments, life becomes boring and trapped in lack and penury forever.

Daily Tip: Do you wish and desire to experience and have a taste of abundant life? Then, learn to obey God’s commandments and His Word of life forever. Shalom!
