DAY 11 FRIDAY: SEPTEMBER 2020

BE ALIVE IN YOUR SPIRIT!

For to be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace (Romans 8:6).

A Christian is being admonished to be alive in the Spirit. When a Christian is alive in the Spirit, he can never be carnally minded because carnality leads to death in life. It is impossible for anyone who is spiritually alive to at the same time gratify the fleshly desires in life. The Bible says in the opening text that to be carnally minded is death, but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. Of course, every Christian should endeavor to take note of the fact that God wants him to be alive in the Spirit in Christ Jesus. It is imperative that a Christian be alive in the Spirit. Being alive in the spirit is to be dead to the flesh and alive to God in Christ Jesus forever.

The life of the flesh is a life full of carnality, and such life leads one unto death and condemnation in life. Anyone living such a life is under bondage of sin and Satan in life. That is why the Bible says in Romans 6:11, “Likewise you also, reckon yourselves to be dead indeed to sin, but alive to God in Christ Jesus our Lord.” Therefore, it is absolutely the will of God for a Christian to be dead in sin and be alive in the Spirit in Christ Jesus.  When a Christian is led by the Holy Spirit, he is alive unto God through Christ Jesus in life. In that sense, he does not live any longer to gratify and fulfill the desires of the flesh in life. God indeed wants all Christians to live victoriously with Christ Jesus in life forever.

Furthermore for a Christian to be alive in the Spirit, he needs to be delivered from the power of darkness into the kingdom of God in life. It is impossible for one to be alive in the Spirit and at the same time dwelling and manipulated by the powers of darkness in life. That is the reason why the Bible says in Colossians 1:13, “He has delivered us from the power of darkness and conveyed us into the kingdom of the Son of His love.” In fact, a Christian was indeed delivered from the powers of darkness into the kingdom of God through His Son, Jesus Christ in life. The abundant grace of God keeps a Christian alive in the spirit forever.

Daily Tip: Every Christian is admonished to be alive in the Spirit by allowing the Holy Spirit to lead and direct Him in life forever. Shalom!

Golden Text: For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit (Romans 8:5).
