THE DIGNITY OF LABOR IN LIFE!
For you yourselves know how you ought to follow us, for we were not disorderly among you; nor did we eat anyone’s bread free of charge, but worked with labor and toil night and day, that we might not be a burden to any of you (2 Thessalonians 3:7-8).
Today happens to be Worker’s Day; a day set aside worldwide to celebrate the dignity of labor in life. God worked and He is still working; hence, He expects us to work in life. The Bible says in the opening text that you yourselves know how you ought to follow us, for we were not disorderly among you; nor did we eat anyone’s bread free of charge, but worked with labor and toil night and day, that we might not be a burden to any of you. Of course, every Christian should endeavor to take note of the fact that the dignity of labor is absolutely the will of God for him in life. It is the duty of every Christian to engage himself in the dignity of labor in order not to be a burden to humanity in life forever.
When you fail to work as a Christian, you are disobeying God and the law of nature in life. Do not fold your hands and expect miracle to happen in life. God expects you to start doing something because that is the reason He gave you brain to think and apply into something tangible in life. God is against laziness and idleness for whatever reason in life. That is why the Bible says thus, “…If anyone will not work, neither shall he eat” (2 Thessalonians 3:10). Therefore, whoever fails to work with his hands is indeed disobeying the will of God for him in life. It is indeed a curse for a Christian to fold his hands and refuse to work but at the same time expecting to eat with the same hands of idleness and laziness in life forever.
In fact, there is dignity in labor. God wants you to be very creative and resourceful in life. He has made you to become a great asset to your generation in life. You should never make yourself a liability in life. God has promised to bless the work of your hands; therefore, be creative and industrious in life. That is the reason why the Bible tells us in Proverbs 12:24, “The hand of the diligent will rule, but the lazy man will be put to forced labor.” In fact, dignity of labor decorates one with favor and as well makes him honorable with leadership qualities in life. Whenever a Christian folds his hands and refuses to work, he makes himself a slave of life forever. Happy Worker’s Day And Happy New Month!
Daily Tip: You are a great asset to your generation, and do not make yourself a liability or burden to anyone through slavery in life forever. Shalom!
