DAY 23 MONDAY: MARCH 2020

YOUR SALVATION DEPENDS ON YOUR CHOICES!

I call heaven and earth as witnesses today against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing; therefore choose life, that both you and your descendants may live (Deuteronomy 30:19).

Many people wonder that if God really wanted everyone to be saved; therefore, let Him save us because He has the power to do so in life. Yes of course, God has the power to save everyone of us but He had given us the power of choices in life. The Bible says in the opening text that I call heaven and earth as witnesses today against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing; therefore choose life, that both you and your descendants may live. Of course, every Christian should endeavor to take note of the fact that his salvation depends on his personal choices in life forever.

Joshua demonstrated this power of choices vividly in the Bible in Joshua 24:15 thus, “And if it seems evil to you to serve the Lord, choose for yourselves this day whom you will serve, whether the gods which your fathers served that were on the other side of the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you dwell. But as for me and my house, we will serve the Lord.” Therefore, God has indeed given everyone the power to make choices that will surely determine his salvation in life. The power to make choices concerning your salvation is in your hand in life forever.

This was the reason why Jesus Christ never in any way forced His disciples to follow Him in life. When the crowd chose to desert Him because of His hard teachings, He turned to His disciples and asked them thus, “Do you also want to go away?” (John 6:67). Jesus Christ knew quite well that man has the power to make choices concerning his own salvation in life. Even though God wants you to be saved, He can never force Himself on you because of your power of choices in life. In fact, one’s personal salvation is clearly based on his personal choices he makes in life forever.

Daily Tip: Your salvation in life depends on the choices you make in life today and forever. Shalom!

Golden Text: For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life (John 3:16).
