DAY 7 TUESDAY: JANUARY 2020

EXTEND A HELPING HAND THROUGH LOVE!

By this we know love, because He laid down His life for us. And we also ought to lay down our lives for the brethren (1 John 3:16).

A Christian is called into service; a service to God and to humanity. God expects you to extend a helping hand through love to your neighbors especially those in need. In the opening text, the Bible says that by this we know love, because He laid down His life for us. And we also ought to lay down our lives for the brethren. Of course, every Christian should endeavor to take note of the fact that God indeed wants him to extend a helping hand through love to his neighbors and those in need in the society. When we fail to extend a helping hand to the needing, we are abusing God’s love in our lives forever.

Jesus Christ gave us a story of a man who was beaten half-dead by thieves on the road to Jericho. The priest and the Levite saw him on the road but failed to extend a helping hand through love. The Samaritan was the one who extended a hand of love thus, “So he went to him and bandaged his wounds, pouring on oil and wine; and he set him on his own animal, brought him to an inn, and took care of him” (Luke 10:34). Therefore, whenever a Christian learns to extend a helping hand to those in needs, directly or indirectly he is lending and rendering divine services unto the Lord forever.

When a Christian fails to extend a helping hand through love, he is denying the grace and the love of God upon his life. That is the reason why the Bible says in 1 John 3:17, “But whoever has this world’s goods, and sees his brother in need, and shuts up his heart from him, how does the love of God abide in him?” In fact, through giving and generosity a Christian demonstrates the agape love of God in his life. God expects you to extend a helping hand through love to those who are in needs around your vicinity in life forever.

Daily Tip: Every Christian is expected to extend a helping hand through love to those who are in needs around his vicinity in life forever. Shalom!

Golden Text: And the King will answer and say to them, “Assuredly, I say to you, inasmuch as you did it to one of the least of these My brethren, you did it to Me (Matthew 25:40).
