BE HUMAN AS A CHRISTIAN!
But a certain Samaritan, as he journeyed, came where he was. And he saw him, he had compassion. So he went to him and bandaged his wounds, pouring on oil and wine; and he set him on his own animal, brought him to an inn, and took care of him (Luke 10:33-34).
Today happens to be the World Humanitarian’s Day; a day set aside by the United Nations Organization to celebrate human compassion and love. The Bible says in the opening text that a certain Samaritan, as he journeyed, came where he was. And he saw him, he had compassion. So he went to him and bandaged his wounds, pouring on oil and wine; and he set him on his own animal, brought him to an inn, and took care of him. Of course, every Christian should endeavor to take note of the fact that God wants him to have human compassion forever.
God expects us to be human as Christians even as we show love and compassion to our fellow human beings. We should not behave like Cain who said to God about his brother, “Am I my brother’s keeper?” (Genesis 4:9). Therefore, God expects you as a Christian to indeed be your brother’s keeper in life and ministry. In the parable of the Good Samaritan that Jesus Christ told, hence both the Priest and the Levite were guilty of the same offense of not being human to their fellow human being that happened to be a victim in the hands of robbers forever. (Luke 10:31-32).
Any Christian irrespective of his titles and positions in life, but fails to show love and compassion to his fellow human beings who are in needs, lives a life of pretense devoid of Jesus Christ’s love. That is the reason why the Bible says in 1 John 4:20, “If someone says, ‘I love God,’ and hates his brother, he is a liar; for he who does not love his brother whom he has seen, how can he love God whom he has not seen?” In fact, whenever a Christian shows genuine love and concern to a brother who is in need, directly or indirectly he is demonstrating the agape love of God on planet earth forever. Happy World Humanitarian’s Day!
Daily Tip: It is high time a Christian quits the life of pretense and be human by demonstrating love and compassion to his neighbors forever. Shalom!
Golden Text: So he answered and said, “You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your strength, and with all your mind,’ and ‘your neighbor as yourself” (Luke 10:27).
