BE HONORABLE BEFORE GOD!
Honor all people. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honor the king (1 Peter 2:17).
We live in a society where the word, “Honorable” is abused and thrown into the dustbin. In fact, most people bear honorable in the society today without reputation and character. The word, “Honorable” simply means reverence, respect, humility and the fear of God which is the beginning of wisdom (Psalm 111:10). The Bible says in the opening text that Honor all people. Love the brotherhood. Fear God. Honor the king. Every Christian who wants to be honorable before God must learn to humble himself, honor all people and respect leaders especially those in authority.
The Lord is the God of orderliness and He wants you to follow His orders in the society. The violation of God’s orders leads to anarchy and disorderliness in our society. That is why the Bible tells us in Leviticus 19:32, “You shall rise before the gray headed and honor the presence of an old man, and fear your God: I am the Lord.” When you show respect and honor to an elder, you are obeying God’s command. Whenever a Christian humbles himself to respect and honor elders in the society, directly or indirectly he is seeking for God’s guidance in all his ways.
The life of honor is reciprocal because you receive what you give out to others. When you show respect and honor elders; definitely, others will show respect and also honor you. A Christian should learn to be humble and submit himself totally to God. That is the reason why the Bible tells us in Proverbs 29:23, “A man’s pride will bring him low, but the humble in spirit will retain honor.” Every Christian should take note of the fact that honor begets honor, respect begets respect and humility begets exultation in life. Therefore, a Christian should learn to be honorable before God.
Daily Tip: Every Christian should learn to be honorable before God, live a life of respect and be full of humility unto God. Shalom!
Golden Text: Likewise you younger people, submit yourselves to your elders. Yes, all of you be submissive to one another, and be clothed with humility, for “God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble” (1 Peter 5:5).
