And she will bring forth a Son, and you shall call His name Jesus, for He will save His people from their sins (Matthew 1:21).

Today happens to be a Christmas Day celebration; a day set aside worldwide to celebrate the birth of a great King, Messiah and Savior of the world. In the opening text, Angel Gabriel announced to Joseph in a dream the essence of the birth of Jesus Christ. The angel revealed to Joseph the mission of Jesus Christ; hence, He came to set His people free from their sins. If Jesus Christ had not come, man would have been in bondage of sin forever. Jesus Christ came to liberate us from sin and reconcile us to God.

Since the beginning of God’s creation, man willfully sold his birth right and authority to Satan; and became totally alienated from God’s presence. God raised Judges and Prophets in order to reconcile man back to Himself; but they all failed woefully. At last, God decided to send His only begotten Son for the redemption of mankind (John 3:16). Christmas is a demonstration of God’s ultimate love to mankind. This is the love of God that redeemed and reconciled man back to the Father forever (Romans 5:8).

As a result of man’s fallen nature, he found himself in the web and cycle of sin that was beyond his ability and control. Indeed, man was in need of divine intervention; and God intervened at the fullness of time. That is the reason why the Bible says in Galatians 4:4, “But when the fullness of the time had come, God sent forth His Son, born of a woman, born under the law.” Whosoever the Son sets free is free indeed and forever (John 8:36). Christmas is the day set aside worldwide to mark and celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ who is the Savior of the whole world.  Happy Christmas Day celebration!

Daily Tip: The essence of Christmas is to celebrate the birth of the great King, Messiah and Savior of the whole world; and also man’s total freedom from sin and Satan. Shalom!
