This I say, therefore, and testify in the Lord, that you should no longer walk as the rest of the Gentiles walk, in the futility of their mind, having their understanding darkened, being alienated from the life of God, because of the ignorance that is in them, because of the blindness of their heart (Ephesians 4:17-18).

The word, “Gentiles” in this passage is referred to as the unbelievers. Paul made reference to them in order to explain their hopelessness and state of futility. He explained that Christians should not walk like the Gentiles because their understanding is darkened, being alienated from the life of God. They walked in ignorance and in the blindness of their heart. Anyone without Jesus Christ is living a life of futility and vanity. Every Christian is expected to walk in Christ Jesus in order to avoid living in futility and hopelessness.

A Christian is seriously warned never to imitate the life of the Gentiles but to pray and intercede for the salvation of their souls. It is our duty as Christians to save the lost and the souls of those who are perishing. That is why Jesus Christ said in Luke 19:10, “For the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost.” It is God’s will that the Gentiles are saved but we are the instruments He will use to save them. It is the duty of every Christian to be fully engaged in the business of soul-wining in order to rescue the souls of the gentiles that are perishing in sin.

You cannot afford to be silent and feel unconcerned about the salvation of the Gentiles. This is because God loved them and He sent His only begotten Son, Jesus Christ to die for them (John 3:16). That is the reason why as Christians, we should be fully engaged in soul-winning because it is the instrument for the salvation of souls into God’s kingdom. Paul said vividly that woe is me if I refused to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ (1 Corinthians 9:16). Of course, every Christian is the light of the world (Matthew 5:14).

Daily Tip: A Christian should be concerned about the salvation of the Gentiles because God loves them dearly and wants them to be saved. Shalom!

Golden Text: The Lord is not slack concerning His promise, as some count slackness, but is longsuffering toward us, not willing that any should perish but that all should come to repentance (2 Peter 3:9).
