And He said to them, “Take heed and beware of covetousness, for one’s life does not consist of the abundance of things he possesses (Luke 12:15).

The true prosperity is not based on material possessions. Therefore as Christians, we should take heed and beware of covetousness. Material possessions no matter the abundance can never give life and peace. No wonder Jesus Christ said in Mark 8:36 thus, “For what will it profit a man if he gains the whole world, and loses his own soul?” The world and everything in it is vanity (Ecclesiastes 1:2). True prosperity is genuine riches in Christ Jesus that is far more than material possessions and worldly goods.

A life is irreplaceable and it worth more than anything one can think of. You can never replace it with material possessions. That is why true prosperity is never based on the abundance of things one possesses. Apostle John the beloved revealed to us what true prosperity is in the Scriptures when he stated in 3 John 1:2, “Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers.” Of course, the true prosperity cuts across every facet of man’s existence, hence, physical, spiritual, emotional, etc.

Prosperity that does not affect your soul and spirit in the Lord is vanity. The true prosperity must definitely affect your soul and spirit positively. When you prosper physically but your soul and spirit are abased; therefore, your prosperity becomes a problem to the world. In fact, it is only God that can give true prosperity (Matthew 6:33). It is not what you can get through human efforts, fraternities, secret cults or societies. It is absolutely God’s wish for every Christian to experience true prosperity in life.

Daily Tip: Every Christian should desire true prosperity from God who is the giver. Shalom!
