But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law (Galatians 5:22-23).

In every profession in life, there are requirements needed for you to function effectively. In the same way, every Christian needs the fruit of love to function effectively and optimally. Among the fruits and gifts of the Holy Spirit, love is the greatest. Without love, a Christian can never overcome and prevail because God is love. No wonder the Bible tells us that anyone who loves is born of God and knows God (1 John 4:7). Of course, love is the greatest of all (1 Corinthians 13:13).

The love of God is a sign and symbol for the Christian. It is not just an outward sign and symbol but it is an expression from the heart (Romans 5:5). Jesus Christ’s new commandment was based on love thus, “A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another” (John 13:34). Of course, your maturity as a Christian is measured by the depth of love expressed in your heart. It is the agape love of God that makes a Christian.

As Christians, love is not strange to us because we were born into it. It is a virtue which is supposed to be found in every Christian. It is not something you ought to pray to have because it is already inherent in your spirit being. Your duty is to increase the capacity of your love to your neighbor. Through love, a Christian fulfills the laws and commandments of Moses (Romans 13:8-10). Love is the greatest and it prevails. Therefore, every Christian should endeavor to strive for the gift of life which is the love of God.

Daily Tip: Without love, a Christian can never prevail and overcome the powers of darkness in the world. Shalom!

Golden Text: And we have known and believed the love that God has for us. God is love, and he who abides in love abides in God, and God in him (1 John 4:16).
