These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world (John 16:33).

In John chapter 16, Jesus Christ took time to explain to the disciples His departure, and some of the terrible things that may happen to them. He told them plainly that in Him they will have peace even in the midst of tribulation. He also commanded them to be cheerful always because He had already overcome the world. That is the reason why as Christians, we are not supposed to live in fear no matter the situations. Every Christian is more than a conqueror through Jesus Christ our Lord (Romans 8:37).

There are so many bad news going on around the world. Bad news of evil reporting that causes fear and tribulation. No wonder the Bible says that even though we are in the world, we are not of the world (John 15:19). Our hope and aspiration is not in this world. Therefore as Christians, we are supposed to be cheerful always because we belong to Jesus Christ who overcame the world on our behalf. A Christian should learn to be cheerful always because the joy of the Lord is his strength (Nehemiah 8:10).

Jesus Christ had already defeated the world and gave us victory and triumph. Even though the Bible says that the whole world lies under the sway of the wicked one (1 John 5:19); we are exempted because we belong to Jesus Christ. That is why Apostle Paul said in Galatians 6:17, “From now on let no one trouble me, for I bear in my body the marks of the Lord Jesus.” Every Christian has the seal and marks of Jesus Christ in his life forever. Therefore, he should endeavor to be cheerful in Jesus Christ always and continually overcome life’s challenges and difficulties.

Daily Tip: A Christian ought to be cheerful always because he belongs to Jesus Christ, the One who overcame the world on his behalf. Shalom!
