TAKING HOLD OF GOD THROUGH STIRRING UP!
And there is no one who calls on Your name, who stirs himself up to take hold of You… (Isaiah 64:7).
As Christians, we should learn to constantly take hold of God through the process of stirring up and encouraging yourselves in the Lord. By stirring up oneself in the Lord simply means to rouse, inspiring oneself by not giving up and encouraging self in the Lord. In the opening text, Prophet Isaiah was speaking and he said, there is no one who calls Your name, and who stirs himself up to take hold of You. Whenever a Christian learns to always stir himself up in the Lord, he will continually take hold of Him.
When you read Genesis 32, you will find the story of Jacob when he wanted to reconcile with his brother, Esau whom he stole his birthright by deceiving his father, Isaac. The Bible recorded that Esau had grown into a great warrior with a large army of men. Therefore his brother, Jacob was afraid that Esau might revenge. That night, Jacob took hold of God through stirring up himself and prevailed. Of course, every Christian should endeavor to do likewise in order to always overcome the battle of life’s challenges.
A Christian should learn to take hold of God through the process of stirring up and encouraging himself in the Lord. In the book of 1 Samuel 30, you will see the account of King David when the enemies came into the Israelites’ camp and took away their wives, children and properties. The Bible recorded that King David stirred up and encouraged himself in the Lord (1 Samuel 30:6). Instead of giving yourself to weeping, sorrow and gnashing of teeth that will not help you in anyway; why not stir up yourself in the Lord by taking hold of Him?
Daily Tip: A Christian should learn to always take hold of God through stirring up and encouraging himself in the Lord during difficult challenges. Shalom!
Golden Text: Therefore I remind you to stir up the gift of God which is in you through the laying on of my hands (2 Timothy 1:6).
