Brethren, I do not count myself to have apprehended; but one thing I do, forgetting those things which are behind and reaching forward to those things which are ahead (Philippians 3:13).

Apostle Paul who was formally known as Saul was a fierce persecutor of the early Church. He aided the stoning of Steven to death by watching over the garments of those who killed him. He went after so many Christians and threw them into prisons. He was so desperate to the extent that he obtained permission from the High Priest to arrest many in far away places. But on his way to Damascus, the Lord arrested him and he later became one of the greatest Apostles that ever lived.

But after his conversion, he became totally transformed and regenerated. He, which was formally a persecutor of the Church, became a great preacher of the gospel of Jesus Christ. He became the greatest Apostle of the Church who single-handedly wrote almost half of the New Testament. He was able to achieve this great feat because he learnt to forget the past. He did not allow the past to hunt and limit him. The ability of learning to forget the past is one of the attributes of achieving greatness in life.

As Christians, we should learn to forget the past just like Apostle Paul did. Whatever mistakes, disappointments and failures you had in the past, God wants you to forget them and look forward. God is not interested in your past, but He is interested in your present and in your future. When you fail to forget the past; hence, you will never make headway. The story of Lot’s wife in the Bible is a vivid case study. Therefore, every Christian should endeavor to always forget his past in order to pave way for his greatness in life.

Daily Tip: A Christian should be focused by learning to forget the past and always look forward in life.  Shalom!
