Blessed shall be the fruit of your body, the produce of your ground and the increase of your herds, the increase of your cattle and the offspring of your flocks. Blessed shall be your basket and your kneading bowl (Deuteronomy 28:4-5).

Today happens to be the International Food Day; a day set aside by the United Nations Organization to celebrate the essential and importance of food for the existence of mankind. There is no man that can ever survive without food. In the opening text, God promised to bless His children with the fruit of the body, the produce of the ground, the increase of herds, the increase of cattle and flocks, their basket and kneading bowl. Food is one of the basic necessities of man’s existence and well-being.

When God created man, He put him in a beautiful Garden of Eden; full of abundance of food and peace. God gave man instruction to eat to his satisfaction the abundance of food except the tree at the middle of the garden. But man disobeyed God; he decided to choose the way of scarce, lack and poverty. Indeed, because of man’s disobedience to God, the ground was cursed for man’s sake (Genesis 3:17). Man became a vagabond and lived in penury in the midst of abundance of food and wealth.

God does not wish any of His children to live the life of lack, scarce and poverty. God wants us to live in abundance and enjoy the good things of life He has provided for us. That is why the Bible tells us in Isaiah 1:19, “If you are willing and obedient, you shall eat the good of the land.” The key to enjoying the abundance of God; the prosperous life and victory in Jesus Christ is absolute obedience to God and His Word of life. Every Christian is expected to live the life God intends for man which is the life of abundance and prosperity. Happy International Food Day.

Daily Tip: Do not be comfortable living the life of lack, scarcity and poverty because that is not what God wished for you as a Christian in the beginning. Shalom!
