Then Jacob was left alone; and a man wrestled with him until the breaking of day (Genesis 32:24).

The spirit realm controls the physical world which we see. When you are able to prevail in the spirit, it manifests in the physical. In the opening text, it gives us a vivid account of the life of Jacob when he wanted to reconcile with his brother, Esau after so many years in asylum. At this point in time, Esau had become a very strong man with a large and powerful army. Therefore, Jacob was overwhelmed with fear because he knew that if his brother, Esau should take vengeance; he will lose everything including his own life. This prompted Jacob to battle all through the night in prayers and prevailed in the spirit realm.

The Bible tells us that Jacob took his destiny into his hand that night and had a prayer vigil. In the process, he wrestled with a strange Man until the braking of the day. The strange Man told Jacob, “Please, let Me go, for the day breaks.” But Jacob replied, “I will not let You go unless You bless me!” The strange Man asked him, “What is your name?” He said, “Jacob.” The strange Man replied Jacob and said, “Your name shall no longer be called Jacob, but Israel; for you have struggled with God and with men, and have prevailed” (Genesis 32:26-28). Of course, Jacob fought and prevailed in the spirit which manifested in the physical world. The spirit realm controls the physical world we see.

In fact, for one to fight and prevail in the spirit is never a child’s play. It takes determination in prayer, sacrifice and the grace of God. Prevailing in the spirit simply means prevailing with God and also with men. You cannot prevail with God and with men; your life still remains the same. Definitely, your destiny, name and fame must change for the better. The power to change your destiny, name and fame is in your hand; and God has already given you the grace. Therefore, take serious action to discover and recover your destiny. With God on your side everything is possible.
