And a great windstorm arose, and the waves beat into the boat, so that it was already filling. But He was in the stern, asleep on a pillow. And they awoke Him and said to Him, “Teacher, do you not care that we are perishing?” Then He arose and rebuked the wind, and said to the sea; “Peace, be still!” And the wind ceased and there was a great calm (Mark 4:37-39).

As Christians, we need to be bold and confident even in the midst of crises, peril and danger. From the opening text, the disciples of Jesus Christ were overwhelmed with fear when the great storm of wind arose and beat against their ship. They woke Jesus Christ up with fear and said to Him, “Teacher, do you not care that we are perishing?” (Mark 4:38). Jesus Christ did not panic nor worried but He was calmed and unruffled. Fear is a great torment that kills faster than any deadly disease one can ever imagine in life.

The Bible says that as soon as Jesus Christ arose, He rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, “Peace, be still!” Immediately, the wind ceased and there was a great calm (Mark 4:39). Here, Jesus Christ demonstrated His absolute supremacy and authority over the powers and forces of nature. No wonder Jesus Christ told His disciples in Matthew 17:20, “Because of your unbelief; for assuredly, I say to you, if you have faith as a mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move; nothing will be impossible for you.” Absolute faith in God is the only answer to fear in life.

A Christian needs to be bold, confident and courageous. No matter the battles of life confronting you, be calmed and put your trust in God. He has promised in His Word never to fail you, and He would definitely see you through. That is why Apostle Paul told Timothy his beloved son in the Lord in 2 Timothy 1:7, “For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.” We should not be ruled and controlled by the spirit of fear because the righteous are as bold as a lion (Proverbs 28:1). Fear has no power over a Christian who exercises his faith in God.

Daily Tip: A Christian should be bold, confident and courageous no matter the situations and challenges because God the Almighty is with him always. Shalom!
