Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy-meditate on these things (Philippians 4:8).

The Word of God is active, powerful and dependable. A Christian needs to constantly base his thoughts on the Word of God. When your thoughts are based on God’s Word, it has the ability to affect your life positively. Apostle Paul admonished the Philippian Christians to base their thoughts on things that are true, noble, just, pure, lovely, of good report and praiseworthy. In John 6:63, Jesus Christ gave us the reason why we need to base our thoughts on God’s Word. He said thus, “It is the Spirit who gives life; the flesh profits nothing. The words that I speak to you are Spirit, and they are life.” Therefore, God’s Word is Spirit and life.

Your thoughts have the ability to affect your character and personality. In fact, if your thoughts are full of evil reports; it will definitely have a negative impact on your character and personality. But if on the other hand, your thoughts are full of good reports that are praiseworthy; it will have a positive impact on your character and personality. No wonder the Bible tells us in Romans 12:2, “And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God.”

As a Christian, you must take time to meditate on the Word of God. The Word of God must affect your mind and thought. Through the mind ideas are formed, and these ideas when properly planned and executed; can bring about your success, breakthrough and development. That is why the Bible says in Hebrews 4:12, “For the Word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart.” The Word of God drives your mind for breakthrough and success in life.

Daily Tip: As a Christian, let your thoughts be based on the Word of God and grow in your spirit. Shalom!
