And Jesus answered and said to her, “Martha, Martha, you are worried and trouble about many things. But one thing is needed, and Mary has chosen that good part, which will not be taken away from her” (Luke 10:41-42).

Jesus Christ visited the home of Martha and Mary. While Mary was greatly excited and delighted to sit at Jesus’ feet listening to His Word of life; Martha on the other hand was very busy in the kitchen preparing food for the Master. Martha observed that her sister, Mary was not even interested in assisting her in the kitchen. So, she became very upset and complained to Jesus Christ by saying, “…Lord, do You not care that my sister has left me to serve alone? Therefore tell her to help me.”

Without mincing words, Jesus Christ reprimanded Martha and commended Mary for making the right choice that can never be taken away from her. In fact Mary delighted herself with the Lord, which is more important than anything else you can think of. In Psalm 37:4, the Bible says, “Delight yourself also in the Lord, and He shall give you the desires of your heart.” Of course, for one to be delighted in the Lord is to be excited with Him, loved and obeyed His Word of life.

The Bible tells us about Job. He was a man who feared and delighted himself with the Lord. By all human standards, he was righteous and honest. But along the line, Satan stretched forth his hand against him, and took away everything that belongs to him including his children. Job was still delighted in the Lord. He never cursed God or sinned against Him. Yet, he loved and fellowshipped with Him in spite of his misfortune. Though, Satan succeeded in taking material things, health and children from Job; but he could not take away his delight and love for God. No wonder the Bible says in Romans 8:35 that nothing in life can separate us from the love of Jesus Christ.

Daily Tip: Delight yourself with the Lord, and He shall give you the desires of your heart. Shalom!
