DAY 17 THURSDAY: MAY 2018

THE NATURE OF A CHRISTIAN IS LOVE!

A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another (John 13:34).

Every Christian should take note of the fact that he has a nature, and that nature is centered on love. A Christian was redeemed and saved by love, and he is expected to live in love in order to win souls into the kingdom of God. Without the nature of love as a Christian, soul-winning becomes impossible. The Bible says in the opening text that a new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another.

It is the nature of love in the life of a Christian that empowers him to fulfill the Law of Moses because love is the fulfillment of the law. No wonder the Bible says in Romans 13:10, “Love does no harm to a neighbor; therefore love is the fulfillment of the law.” When a Christian fails to live in love, he becomes subject to the Law of Moses. It is only the nature of love that can set a Christian free from the bondage of the law. Therefore, love is the greatest!

Agape love is a gift that no one deserves, but God in His infinite mercy and grace has decided to pour it into our hearts. That is why the Bible says in Romans 5:5, “Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us.” This is the reason why love is a Christian’s nature because God had poured it into his heart by the Holy Spirit. A Christian has the nature of love in him.

Daily Tip: Every Christian has the nature of love in him; therefore, he should display it for the world to see by winning souls into God’s kingdom!

Golden Text: Owe no one anything except to love one another, for he who loves another has fulfilled the law (Romans 13:8).

MEDITATE DAILY IN GOD’S WORD!

Blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor stands in the path of sinners, nor sits in the seat of the scornful; but his delight is in the law of the Lord, and in His law he meditates day and night (Psalm1:1-2).

Every Christian is expected to meditate daily in God’s Word in order to experience His leading and guidance. The Bible says in the opening text that blessed is the man who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor stands in the path of sinners, nor sits in the seat of the scornful; but his delight is in the law of the Lord, and in His law he meditates day and night. When a Christian learns to meditate daily in God’s Word, he experiences His leading and guidance.

When Moses commissioned Joshua to succeed him in leading the children of Israel to the Promised Land, God commanded him thus, “This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success” (Joshua 1:8). Meditating in God’s Word brings prosperity.

That is why the Psalmist went further in the next verse of our opening text and declares thus, “He shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water, that brings forth its fruit in its season, whose leaf also shall not wither; and whatever he does shall prosper (Psalm 1:3). When a Christian meditates constantly in God’s Word daily, his feet becomes established in the water of life and he experiences prosperity in everything he does in life.

Daily Tip: There is power in meditation especially when a Christian meditates in God’s Word daily. Shalom!

Golden Text: For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart (Hebrews 4:12).
