You are My friends if you do whatever I command you. No longer do I call you servants, for a servant does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, for all things that I heard from My Father I have made known to you (John 15:14-15).

Jesus Christ told His followers and disciples that anyone that obeys His command is a friend and he is no longer a servant. A friend has a greater relationship than a servant or slave. There are secrets that cannot be revealed to a servant or slave but to a friend. A friend knows what his master is doing and he can even drink and dine with his master. In fact, the relationship between a friend and his master is very great and cordial. It is far greater than that of a servant or slave.

As a Christian, for you to live a victorious and a successful Christian life, your relationship with Jesus Christ must be very cordial and great. No wonder Jesus Christ said in John 10:27, “My sheep hear My voice, and I know them, and they follow Me.” Of course, the relationship between Jesus Christ and a Christian is not that of a master and his slave or servant; but that of a master and his friend. A Christian becomes a friend of Jesus Christ when he hears and obeys His teachings.

Furthermore, Jesus Christ illustrated this clearly when He said in John 15:5, “I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing.” The vine and the braches have the same life; it therefore means that Jesus Christ has the same life with the Christians. That is why Apostle Paul refers to the Christians as the body of Jesus Christ; while Christ is the Head of the body (1 Corinthians 12:27). Therefore, a Christian has a greater relationship with the Lord.

Daily Tip: The relationship between Jesus Christ and a Christian is like that of a master and his friend. Shalom!

Golden Text: And the Scripture was fulfilled which says, Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness. And he was called the friend of God (James 2:23).
