These things I have spoken to you, that My joy may remain in you, and that your joy may be full (John 15:11).

Joy is one of the fruits of the Holy Spirit listed in Galatians 5:22. A Christian is expected to be full of joy. There is a great difference between joy and happiness. Happiness is a fleshly attribute that is temporary but joy is a fruit of the Holy Spirit that is permanent and eternal. A drunkard and a fornicator can be happy but they are not full of joy. Joy is an attribute of a spirit filled believer that is bubbling in the Holy Ghost. Of course, every Christian should endeavor to take note of the fact that God indeed wants his joy to be full in life forever.

A Christian is not supposed to be sad and sorrowful no matter the situations and challenges of life. We saw this in the lives of Paul and Silas; even when they were beaten with rods, kept in prison with fetters on their feet and hands, they were still full of joy and praised God (Acts 16:22-26). Therefore, no matter the challenges, trials and obstacles in life, a Christian is expected to be full of joy by giving thanks to God always. Hence, every Christian should avoid the life of murmuring to living the life of thanksgiving to God forever.

Your life is a demonstration of the glory of God. The people around you should feel the presence of God through your impact and encouragement. You are the light of the world; a city that is set on a hill can never be hidden (Matthew 5:14). In fact, just like the glory of light can never be hidden, therefore, a Christian’s glory in life can never be quenched because it is hidden in Christ Jesus. A Christian that is full of joy is a light that attracts the world unto God. That is the reason why Jesus Christ said that he who believes in Me, out of his heart will flow rivers of living water forever (John 7:38).

Daily Tip: A Christian should be full of joy and give thanks to God always and forever. Shalom!
