Husbands, love your wives, just as Christ also loved the church and gave Himself for her (Ephesians 5:25).

Today happens to be Father’s Day; a day set aside worldwide to celebrate the dignity of fatherhood. The role of a father in the home can never be over emphasized. Without godly fathers, the society will suffer a great set back. The father is the head of the home. As the head, he is expected to love his wife and bring up his children in the way and fear of the Lord. It is his duty to provide and care for the needs of his family. Of course, every responsible Christian father should endeavor to lead his family by setting a good example for others to follow in the fear of the Lord forever.

The father, who is the head of the home, has a duty to bring up his children in the fear and way of the Lord. That is why the Bible says in Ephesians 6:4, “And you, fathers, do not provoke your children to wrath, but bring them up in the training and admonition of the Lord.” The training of children should be total and collective; hence, the father and the mother are expected to join hands together collectively. Therefore, a godly father is expected to lay down a good legacy for the children in life and ministry forever.

Also, it is the duty of the father to become the high priest of the home. He is expected to stand at the gap between God and his family. That is the reason why the Bible tells us about Job in Job 1:5, “…he would rise early in the morning and offer burnt offerings according to the number of them all. For Job said, ‘It may be that my sons have sinned and curse God in their hearts.’ Thus Job did regularly.” In fact, a godly father should constantly as a necessity offer his life as a burnt offering to the family forever. Happy Father’s Day!

Daily Tip: Every father has a great duty in his home and family; therefore, he should learn to put his trust and confidence in the Lord. With God on your side, everything is possible. Shalom!

Golden Text: Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it (Proverbs 22:6).
