For it is the God who commanded light to shine out of darkness, who has shone in our hearts to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ. But we have this treasure in earthen vessels, that the excellence of the power may be of God and not of us (2 Corinthians 4:6-7).

The importance of light can never be over emphasized in life. Light is more appreciated when someone has probably experienced darkness for some time in life. When someone has not experienced thick darkness, he may never value light when it comes in life. The Bible says in the opening text that God commanded light to shine out of darkness. This therefore means that there was darkness, and out of darkness comes light. In the creation story, the Bible tells us that the earth was without form and void; and darkness was at the face of the deep. The Spirit of God was hovering over the face of the waters. Then God said, “Let there be light and there was light” (Genesis 1:2-3). Of course, every Christian should endeavor to take note of the fact that God commanded light to shine out of darkness in life forever.

The Bible further says in Matthew 5:14, “You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden.” Therefore, wherever light is found darkness is bound to disappear because it can never withstand the intensity and power of light in life. As a Christian, you have the authority in Christ Jesus to bring light out of darkness in life. No matter how dark the situation or problem is, you can command light to come forth; and it will come in life. When you fail as a Christian to exercise your authority in Christ Jesus, you will continue to remain in darkness; and if care is not taken, you may even die in darkness forever.

In fact, a Christian is born into the kingdom of light, and God wants him to exercise his dominion in Christ Jesus over the forces of darkness in life. Darkness has no power over you because you are a child of light in life. Darkness can never be able to comprehend light because light is greater and more powerful in life. Therefore, as a child of light, greater is He that is in you than the forces of darkness that rule the world (1 John 4:4). This is the reason why Jesus Christ said in John 8:12 thus, “I am the light of the world. He who follows Me shall not walk in darkness, but have the light of life.” In fact, the light of God which is also the light of life is found in Jesus Christ and whoever follows Him can never walk in darkness forever.

Daily Tip: A Christian has the right and authority to command light to shine out of darkness in life forever. Shalom!
